Service Description
What isBengkungBellyBinding?
Bengkung Belly Binding is an ancient Malaysian practice that involves using a long, thin piece of cloth to wrap the postpartum belly. This practice is designed to help postpartum recovery by providing comfort, warmth, and support to the hips, abdomen, and pelvic floor.
Why should you bind after giving birth?
After giving birth, our bodies tend to feel... vulnerable. There is a lot of growing and separation that has occurred and we're often in need of some help feeling "put back together".
BengkungBellyBinding benefits
Improves diastasis recti
Improved circulation
Provides core support
Improves posture during breastfeeding
Can decrease postpartum bleeding
Aids in shrinking the uterus down to pre-pregnancy size
Gives support to loose ligaments
An act of self-care
Friendly Disclaimer
This is not necessarily a "slimming" tool. I am not interested in you losing weight or being able to fit into your pre-pregnancy jeans. This practice is about healing your womb and giving your body support after it worked so hard to carry and birth your baby.

What's included & when to start binding:
Each client receives a new personal bind that is yours to keep! It can take up to 2 weeks for me to receive your bind so the earlier you know you want to bind, the better!

Ideally, we will set up a time to bind within 3-5 days after you've given birth (this time increases if you've had a c-section birth- sometimes up to 2-3 weeks) and received the OKAY from your provider.
It seems that binding is most beneficial for the first 8 weeks postpartum. Binds can be worn for 10-12 hours a day but should be taken off while you're sleeping.

If you have diagnosed prolapse or you find that binding causes any discomfort in your pelvic floor, please stop using and refer to your provider and a physical therapist.

When to start binding...

For Vaginal Births: You can start binding as early as 2-3 days postpartum. Please receive permission from your provider prior to binding.
For C-section Births: It is recommended to wait until your incision is healed (stitches have dissolved/staples have been removed) and your provider has cleared you for binding. This can be anywhere from 2-6 weeks.
